Norway’s Most Popular Day Tour
This guided tour to Nærøyfjorden and Flåm is Norway’s most popular day tour and will take you through beautiful fjord scenery. The tour includes a fjord cruise and train journeys on Europe’s top-rated railways.
At Bergen Railway Station you meet the guide and the tour starts with the scenic Bergen Line to Voss. At the railway station in Voss, we find the bus that takes us to Gudvangen, and in the summer months, the bus runs through Stalheimskleiva, the 1.5-km road section that winds down Nærøydalen.
Well ahead in Gudvangen, at the bottom of the Nærøyfjord, we board the electric ship “Future of the fjord” to Flåm. The Nærøyfjord is one of the narrowest fjords in the world and the trip to Flåm takes about two hours. The boat is battery operated and highly comfortable with large windows and a good patio. In 2005, the Nærøyfjord was incorporated on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The fjord is surrounded by high mountains and is a beautiful sight both in summer and winter.
Flåm is a charming village surrounded by precipitous mountainsides, rumbling waterfalls, and narrow valleys. Here we can have lunch, visit the Flåm Railway Museum or just wander around the harbour. The trip continues with the Flåm Railway which is one of the world’s steepest railways. The 20-km train journey from Flåm to Myrdal gives you a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent of Norwegian mountain nature, including the famous Kjosfossen waterfall. The train spends about an hour on the trip. At Myrdal station, a train changes to the Bergen Line which takes us back to Bergen and the tour ends at Bergen Railway Station.
